Caregiver Compensation - Colorado

Ready Set Care

Colorado offers three ways to get paid as a family caregiver.

 

1. Consumer Directed Attendant Support Services Program (CDASS): is designed to allow elderly and/or disabled individuals who would otherwise require care in a nursing facility to remain at home. This consumer-directed program enables care recipients to choose, train, and schedule their care and caregivers.

 

 Program Requirements

  • MUST be Colorado resident 

    • MUST require nursing facility level of care

    • MUST be enrolled or eligible for Health First Colorado (Medicaid)

    • All caregivers eligible 

 

2. Elderly, Blind, and Disabled Waiver: enables elderly and/or disabled adults who require nursing facility level of assistance to receive care at home. This program allows the care recipient to choose and pay family members or friends to provide personal care services. Other services under the program include adult day care, respite services, and accessibility-related home modifications. 

 

Program Requirements

  • MUST be resident of Colorado

    • MUST be 65+, OR, 18+ and disabled

    • MUST require nursing facility level of care

    • MUST be Medicaid eligible

    • All caregivers eligible 

 

3. Home Care Allowance Program: is a non-Medicaid program that allows elderly and disabled adults who cannot complete activities of daily living to remain at home. This program allows friends and family members to be hired and paid for providing personal care services. 

 

Program Requirements

  • MUST be Colorado resident 

    • MUST be elderly or disabled 

    • MUST require assistance with some ADL’s 

    • MUST be receiving SSI

    • All caregivers eligible
