Caregiver Compensation - Hawaii

Hawaii offers two ways to get paid as a family caregiver.

1. Chore Services Program: allows elderly and disabled adults who cannot complete activities of daily living to remain at home. This program allows friends and family members to be hired and paid for providing personal care services. 

Program Requirements

• MUST be a resident of Hawaii 

  • MUST be at least 18 years of age and disabled

  • MUST require assistance with daily living activities

  • MUST be eligible for Supplemental Security Income and Medicaid

  • All caregivers eligible

2. Hawaii Med-QUEST: enables elderly and/or disabled adults to receive care at home. This program provides a stipend to family or friends that serve as the care provider. Other services may include: adult day care and respite care. 

Program Requirements

• MUST be a resident of Hawaii 

  • MUST be elderly, disabled, or blind

  • MUST be Medicaid eligible

  • All caregivers eligible
