Massachusetts offers three ways to get paid as a family caregiver.
1. Home Care Program (HCP): assists elderly and disabled adults who cannot complete activities of daily living remain at home. Through this program, friends and certain family members can be paid for providing personal care services. Other services range from adult day care and respite care to money management support.
Program Requirements
MUST be a resident of Massachusetts
MUST be at least 60 years of age, OR, under 60 and diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease
MUST require assistance with some Activities of Daily Living
MUST be living at home and not in an institutional setting
MUST be Medicaid or MassHealth eligible
All caregivers eligible

2. Massachusetts Caregiver Homes Program: is designed to help elderly and disabled adults receive care at home. This program pays for certain family members to provide personal care services.
Program Requirements
MUST be a resident of Massachusetts
MUST be at least 16 years of age
MUST require assistance with at least one or more Activities of Daily Living
MUST be Medicaid or MassHealth eligible
Spouses are NOT eligible

3. Massachusetts Personal Care Attendant Program: allows elderly and disabled adults to remain at home and receive help completing activities of daily living. This consumer-directed program allows the care recipient to choose, train, and schedule their care and caregivers.
Program Requirements
MUST be a resident of Massachusetts
MUST have a permanent disability
MUST require assistance with at least 2 ADL's
MUST be Medicaid eligible
Spouses are NOT eligible
