Nebraska offers three ways to get paid as a family caregiver.
1. Nebraska Aged and Disabled Waiver: is designed to help elderly and disabled adults receive care at home or in a community setting. This program pays friends and certain family members for providing personal care services. Other services range from respite care to home modifications.
Program Requirements
MUST be a resident of Nebraska
MUST be 65+, OR, disabled
MUST require nursing facility level of care
MUST be able to be safely served at home
MUST be Medicaid eligible
Spouses are NOT eligible

2. Nebraska Disabled Persons and Family Support Program: is a non-Medicaid program that helps adults with severe disabilities receive care from home. Through this program, friends and certain family members can be paid for providing personal care services. Other services range from housekeeping to home safety and accessibility modifications.
Program Requirements
MUST be a resident of Nebraska
MUST meet program's financial requirements (depends on household size/monthly income)
MUST be an employed adult with disabilities, OR,
MUST be an adult with disabilities living independently

3. Personal Assistance Services: allows elderly and disabled adults who cannot complete activities of daily living to remain at home. Under this program, certain family members can be hired and paid to carry out personal care services.
Program Requirements
MUST be a resident of Nebraska
MUST have a chronic medical condition or a disability
MUST require assistance with daily living activities
MUST be living at home
MUST be Medicaid eligible
Spouses are NOT eligible
