Caregiver Compensation - Utah

Ready Set Care

Utah offers two ways to get paid as a family caregiver.

 

1. Home and Community Based Alternatives Program: is a non-Medicaid program that enables elderly and/or disabled adults who require nursing facility level of assistance to receive care at home. This program allows certain family members to be hired and paid to carry out personal care services. Program services may include: adult day and respite care and chore services. 

 

Program Requirements

  • MUST be a resident of Utah

    • MUST be 18+

    • MUST require nursing level of care

    • MUST be low-income

    • Spouses are NOT eligible

2. New Choices Waiver: enabled elderly and disabled adults residing in long term care facilities to be moved home. This program allows family members to be hired and paid to provide care. Program services may include: adult day and respite care and meal deliveries. 

 

Program Requirements

  • MUST be a resident of Utah

    • MUST be 18+ (18-64 and disabled)

    • MUST require nursing facility level of care

    • MUST be currently residing in a nursing or assisted living facility

    • MUST be Medicaid eligible

    • Spouses are NOT eligible
