Ready Set Care

Wisconsin offers two ways to get paid as a family caregiver.

 

1. Family Care Program: enables severely disabled adults to receive care at home or in a community setting. This program allows certain family members to be hired and paid to carry out personal care services. Other services include: health care services and case management. 

 

Program Requirements

  • MUST be a resident of Wisconsin

    • MUST be 65+, OR, 18+ and disabled, OR, have dementia, OR, have a terminal illness

    • MUST be Medicaid eligible

    • Spouses are NOT eligible

2. IRIS (Include, Respect, I Self-Direct) Program: is designed to allow elderly and/or disabled adults who require nursing facility level of assistance to receive care at home. This program allows certain family members to be hired and paid to carry out personal care services either at home or in assisted living communities.

 

Program Requirements

  • MUST be a resident of Wisconsin

    • MUST be 18+

    • MUST require nursing facility level of care

    • MUST be Medicaid eligible

    • MUST be living in a county where IRIS is available

    • Program is only available in Columbia, Fond du Lac, Kenosha, La Crosse, Milwaukee (serves the elderly population only), Ozaukee, Portage, Racine, Richland and Sheboygan Counties.

    • Spouses are NOT eligible
